Computhink and Caminova have partnered to include High Compression (DjVu) PDF for Contentverse 2019, the latest version of Computhink’s award winning ECM, due for release at the end of the second quarter. With this latest development, Computhink has achieved even greater strides in speed and simplicity. The technology will give users faster, more streamlined document accessibility and collaboration than ever before.
What is High Compression DjVu PDF?
Caminova’s revolutionary DjVu® technology is an open file format with segmentation methods developed by AT&T labs. This technology is a process which splits a single image into three different layers, then compresses each of them optimally according to their content. Caminova is the Exclusive Worldwide Developer and Distributor of DjVu Technology.
“We are delighted to offer Caminova’s DjVu – based HC-PDF technology in Contentverse 2019, for its superior image-capture and compression capabilities,” said Joseph Wharram, Computhink president. “Our users can now benefit from Caminova’s compression technology which combines lightweight file creation with high visual quality.”
Caminova’s HC-PDF segmentation and compression technology meets 100% of the PDF ISO specification and can be viewed from any viewer that supports standard PDF files. The HC-PDF technology will appear in Contentverse 2019, which already enables quick and easy creation of professional looking PDF documents, with highlighting and annotation capabilities. The file can be edited as a standard PDF using Adobe Writer, and Contentverse 2019 enables these files to be full text searchable.
What Key Advantages does HC PDF provide?
HC PDF complements the new and improved array of Enterprise Content Management features already offered by Contentverse solutions. This improved PDF generation will facilitate the conversion and minimization of image file formats, and it will be the new default file format for record generation.
How does HC PDF improve my business at the system level?
Compressed data permits users to back-up and store data faster, especially when dealing with larger files. This increases computing efficiency. HC PDF technology also allows for quicker transfers. Not only does file compression enable you to move files around on a local device more efficiently, it also enables you to send large documents and data faster over the internet.
However, uncompressed files can often become corrupt when sent over the web. The HC PDF technology serves to preserve integrity of your files and make sure your data goes uncorrupted. It’s easier to compress larger files when uploading them to a webpage or sending them via email. Also, the most common email systems restrict the size of attachments. Compression offers a way to send multiple files collectively, instead of one-by-one.
End users and customers will benefit too
Large documents and scanned files take an extensive amount of time to download, especially when they contain images and other components. Trying to access these large files can cause lengthy delays that slow down workflows and reduce efficiency. Compressed files on the other hand have comparatively faster speeds. Employees can quickly retrieve information from storage to resume working, improving workflow speed.
Certain companies rely on providing downloadable content. With uncompressed files, customers are greatly affected by slow download speed, which lowers the overall quality of their experience on the website. Using file compression to facilitate faster downloads helps to prevent customers from leaving the company page and provides users a more enjoyable experience.
Sending and receiving files can be an incredibly slow process. There is almost nothing that can be done during that period of waiting between the sender and the receiver. This is inefficient, especially when deadlines have to be met. Compression effectively compacts the file size, reducing transmission delay and enabling faster communication.
Power and Speed in 2019
The new Contentverse is packed with enhancements to an already exceptional ECM. This collaboration between Caminova and Computhink has combined the existing feature functionality with advanced high compression PDF technology. This combination is set to significantly enhance content management for all of Computhink’s new and current customers.
