Will County – Illinois

“Scanning afforded us the opportunity to lessen the amount of paper copies we produce, increasing efficiency for internal departments, as well as deliver better service to our customers, the citizens of Will County.”
– Lynn Behringer, Director of Records Management at Will County

Will County executive and staff have worked very diligently to bring paperless work environments throughout the County. Joseph Mikan, County Executive at Will County states, “centralization of record keeping has given back valuable space to offices for utilization by staff members serving the citizens of Will County and has increased efficiency by allowing information to be retrieved rapidly.”

Will County has scanned in all paperwork documentation related to accounts payable, which can now be electronically accessed, searched and archived across all County users on the system. Contentverse provides a secure vault for keeping records online, some of which have to be retained for up to 10 years.

“Due to our growth we have offices at eight different locations, and scanning allows us to manage records for various departments at one location, yet making them accessible to all departments at their location,” Behringer added.

Will County assessed three finalist vendors on ease of use, flexibility and cost. Computhink’s Contentverse, a content management solution, was selected for its multiple layers of high security and its ease of integration with other electronic data sources.

“Local government has to retain records for extended periods and often make these records available upon demand. But that doesn’t mean everyone has to have a paper copy filed away, which rapidly becomes both physically unmanageable, and inefficient to use.”
