Why Working Outdoors is Now Easier Than Ever
Ah, yes. Finally some sun and heat! What a beautiful feeling waking up in the morning with the sunrays shining through your window. As you check your weather app, you see that it will be above 50 degrees and for us (in Chicago) that’s considered summer. Wanting to do nothing but explore the outdoors, you realize that you have to go to work and meet those deadlines; it is a weekday after all!
There are many reasons why being indoors can be stressful, especially when it’s a glorious day outside. Not only are you missing the sun, but you are also missing the fresh air and the flowers. Luckily, working outdoors once in a while is easier than ever! Here are a few tips that will give you that extra push out the door for a bit to do some work:
Surprise! The sun is actually good for you…in moderation.
I’m not talking about putting your bathing suit on under your work clothes and basking in the sun. I’m talking about the Vitamin D that the sunlight provides. It gives us an extra energy boost if you’re in it for a certain amount of time. Also, sitting outdoors lowers your risk of heart disease. See, not only are you being productive but you are also keeping your health on track. Like I always say, a healthy body is a happy life. 20 minutes is all you need and you will be set for the day. You can get a lot done in 20 minutes, too. Every minute counts especially when working on a project that has a deadline.
With the help of document management software, your papers won’t fly away.
The wind stinks. We all know it does. It ruins the hair you took 15-45 minutes to style. It makes walking with anything in your hand a balancing act. It also makes working outside a hassle. Thanks to Contentverse, a document management software solution, all of your files are in one place. Where you may ask? Oh, just on your laptop and cellphone. You have both of those devices, I know you all too well. Happy 2014! With Contentverse, you can edit and even share files with your co-workers safely. You will have no worries about those documents flying away. What an easy solution! Contentverse is a great excuse to step outside to do your work. Plus, if you were sitting outdoors staring at the beautiful trees, wouldn’t you feel bad having all of those papers surrounding you? Save the trees!
You will feel refreshed.
Too many conversations going on at once at work can only lead to a headache. Working in a natural environment is the perfect way to just take a deep breath and feel alive. While you are outside, feel free to take a nice big stretch while you are at it. You’ve been cooped up for quite some time so you deserve it.
An open mind.
Writers block is aggravating. It can even ruin your day. When I feel like my brain has no more juice, I kid you not I will go outside (even when it’s cold). I bundle up and sit for a couple of minutes. Gathering your thoughts will make a big difference. Being outdoors will help you clear your jumbled mind and even inspire you with ideas and a spark of motivation. My favorite days are warm days because I can sit outside and write. Make sure you have your laptop or cellphone near so you can jot down those ideas. We want to see those ideas come to life!
Happiness.
A bad day is quickly resolved by nature’s natural healing powers. Sitting outdoors and working will not only completely change your entire mood, but you will become more enlightened. Usually when a body feels overwhelmed, all it needs is a break. That’s it. We’re not as difficult as the world makes us seem. Sit on a bench, look around and smile for a couple of minutes. The sun is shining after all.
Winter is a hard time for all of us (especially this past winter). Winter is also the time of year where we feel the least inspired. Needless to say, we were indoors with nowhere to go. As we constantly stuffed our faces with comfort food and felt trapped while staring out the window, we saw the bitter cold taking over both the outdoors and our working habits.
Great weather is here to save us! It’s time. Take advantage if you have the opportunity and move your desk outdoors (not literally). Not only will you have all of your files in one place thanks to Contentverse, but you will also feel refreshed and invigorated. What more can one ask for? Get to work!
