Don’t Party with Your Coworkers on New Year’s Eve
There’s only one resolution to make for New Year’s: Don’t party with coworkers on New Year’s Eve. Here are four reasons why:
You’ll Get Hit On
All it takes is a few drinks and people start to get frisky. No one ever means to start acting like it’s spring break, and yet people do it all the time. New Year’s Eve ups the ante-everyone is celebrating and their guard is down. The Puritan age may be over, but you still might end up wearing a scarlet letter.
You’ll Say The Wrong Thing
Booze makes for loose lips. If you’re lucky, the wrong thing will only make you get teased for a few months. Maybe it was “out of context”, or you didn’t mean it. Maybe it was the booze talking. Too bad. Even if it isn’t something serious that could cost you your job, you’ll be “on the list” the certain people will look at later-like when you’re up for promotion- and it won’t be the A-list.
You’ll Do Something Embarrassing
It’s probably happened to you before. You’re out with some good people for the first time so you tie on a few more than you normally would. You have some laughs, share some stories, but then things turn bad, and then worse. Before you know it the room is spinning and John the IT guy is helping you to the bathroom, periodically asking, “how’s it going in there?”
You’ll Speak Your Mind
Booze isn’t just an effective truth serum, its bravado in a bottle. You’ve managed to avoid a conflict with a person you don’t get along with and now you feel compelled to speak up once you’ve got a buzz on and start that argument you’ve successfully avoided at the office. You may find yourself on the wrong end of a physical altercation.
Happy New Year, everyone. Be Safe. Have fun
